On August 4, 2016, Lowe's (Plant City) adopted two spaces in the Teaching Garden! After giving Lowe's manager, Michael Spall and, Human Resource manager, Julie Rocha, a tour of the Gardens they made their choices. The gazebo and adjacent arboretum space grabbed their attention immediately. They were captivated with the Gardens and were inspired with some very creative ideas for educational and entertainment ideas!
Lowe's has been very supportive of the CG. These are good friends of the community and will be an asset to the CG and TG. THANK YOU, Michael and Julie!
The members of the Suncoast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society are the new adoptive "parents" of the Native Plant space in the Teaching Garden! They have also expanded their expertise beyond the existing space and into the woodland area where shade and wetland plants thrive.
On Saturday, September 3, 2016, an adventurous group began the task of "freeing" many native plants that were camoflaged among weeds. They dodged the rain and made a lot of progress. It will be fun to watch this area transform.
